For years, the student council at APEC Schools operated without a specific set of rules and guidelines beyond the general handbook. While the performance of the student council was commendable throughout the years, there was a clear need for a dedicated framework and guidelines to clearly define their roles and responsibilities. To address this, the institution of APEC Schools, under the guidance of Sir Antonio D.P. Mallari Jr., has established “The Constitution and Bylaws of APEC Schools Student Council.”
The Constitution and Bylaws of APEC Schools Student Council is a comprehensive document outlining the rules, regulations, and duties of the student council. It consists of ten articles that cover everything from general provisions to the specific roles and responsibilities of each student council officer. It also details the various tasks the council must complete throughout the school year, like their finances and the APEX-SL.
Sir Antonio DP. Mallari Jr., the Prefect of Student Life and Development, ratified the Constitution and Bylaws of APEC Schools Student Council, and it was distributed to all branches. Each student council representative of each site signed the constitution, signifying their commitment to uphold its principles and building a framework for future student council members. Along with this, on April 8, 2024, the student council and batch representatives of APEC Schools New Manila ceremonially signed the constitution, marking a significant step towards better governance and accountability.
Ultimately, having a constitution ensures that the student council operates with transparency and accountability. This provides a clear framework that helps prevent corruption, promotes accountability, and guides the student council in serving the student body effectively. This milestone signifies a new era of structured governance that will undoubtedly enhance the school community's overall experience.
